Clean the upper part of the agitator, under the lid, and around the rim of the tub using a toothbrush. You can also wipe down the front and sides of the machine.
Close the lid again and run a complete cycle on the washing machine.
While the washing machine does its job, take the time to clean its top part. That includes the front lid, the dials, and the console. Use a vinegar solution in doing so.
Repeat the first step, but with another quart of white vinegar.
Doing another hot wash with a quart of white vinegar ensures that the washing machine is free of residue. After all, the first wash might have left some behind.
Clean the sides and bottom of the washing machine with a vinegar solution.
Do this last step after the second cycle. It is advisable that you keep the lid open from time to time. This simple step extends the cleanliness of the washing machine. It also helps in keeping the other parts you cleaned dry completely.
