Did your fridge suddenly turn warm? We’re here to help! We’re Teko.ph, the largest aircon, appliance, and computer services provider in the Philippines, with some tips to help you fix a fridge not getting cold.

Fridge Not Getting Cold: What To Do Immediately

Once you notice that your refrigerator does not get cold, here are the basic steps you can take:

  • Check if your refrigerator is plugged properly. Sometimes, you may forget to plug it back in after cleaning, defrosting, or moving to another location.
  • Ensure the thermostat is set to a cold temperature. You can put it in a colder setting and wait about 24 hours to see if the fridge gets cold.
  • Inspect the door seals for gaps or damage. Close the door on a piece of paper and if it pulls out easily, you may need to replace the seal. This is to prevent letting the warm air in.
  • Make sure there’s enough space around the ref for proper ventilation. You should allow at least a few inches of space between the back of the refrigerator and the wall.
  • Adjust your fridge if it is not level with the ground. This is important to help your ref’s cooling system work more effectively with the liquids or refrigerants it uses.

When to Call A Ref Technician for Help

Is your fridge not getting cold even after doing the DIY fixes above? First, you can try defrosting your ref if there is excessive ice buildup. Don’t forget to unplug the fridge and remove all food, especially the perishable items.

If you notice signs like water leaks and unusual noises, it’s time to call in a professional ref technician. Aside from saving time, you may also avoid damaging your appliance further.
